FREEDOM
OF EXPRESSION
Dear reader receives a cordial greeting, today I will
tell you about freedom of expression in Ecuador. Freedom of expression is a
human right that establishes that "Every individual has the right to
freedom of opinion and expression, this right includes the right not to be
disturbed because of his opinions, the right to investigate and receive
information and opinions, and the right to disseminate them, without limitation
of frontiers, by any means of expression".
In Ecuador, democracy is strengthened by freedom of
expression. We Ecuadorians who have emerged from an authoritarian regime that
controls thought and speech are well aware of this. We went from persecution to
critics and opponents to respect for others. In three years of government, the
change has been great on this issue: reforms to the Organic Law of
Communication with the support of the United Nations and the Special Rapporteur
for Freedom of Expression of the Organization of American States
The current Government also signed the Declaration of
Chapultepec, whose fundamental principle is that no media or journalist should
be punished for spreading the truth, criticizing or denouncing the powers. It
also established the Committee for the Protection of Journalists at Risk.
Knowing the new decisions made by the government and
the president of the Republic of Ecuador on freedom of expression, we will
analyze whether these measures have been implemented:
In recent years the country has suffered several
economic and social blows, such as the rise in the price of oil in October last
year, which provoked several demonstrations, by which several people showed
their dissatisfaction on social media for the measures taken by the president,
unfortunately one of these people work for the government for which he was
fired immediately, then it can be said that freedom of expression is not
currently observed in Ecuador.

posteriormente hicimos un conversatorio con los maestros, finalmente realice
un ensayo de la libertad de expresión en inglés.

Aprendí sobre que es la libertad de expresión y si
esta se cumple en el Ecuador.
